The 152nd Anniversary Convention and School of Fraternity Practices

By Brian Fedje

All of us have enjoyed the experience of a fraternity with our local chapters and our time as undergraduates.  Many of us have stayed involved with Phi Chapter or have networked with other Theta Chi alumni in the cities where we live.  Few of us have ever experienced Theta Chi on a national level though.  There is an opportunity every other year where we can do that.

The next opportunity to do that is this summer in Indianapolis at the 152nd Anniversary Convention and School of Fraternity Practices, July 9-13, at the Hyatt Regency.  This is two events combined into one.  The convention legislates on matters of interest to the Fraternity and its chapters, elects members to the Grand Chapter, and elects the National President and Vice President.  The School of Fraternity Practices is a three day of training sessions geared mostly to undergraduates but there are also some programs for alumni.  The convention also usually has a golf tournament, 5K run, and a formal closing banquet.

Mark Dittmer and I would love to invite a group of Phi alumni to make the trek to Indianapolis this summer and be a part of this great event.  Even if you only want to stop in for part of the convention or attend the banquet, it is worth the trip.  Depending on the numbers, Mark and I will host a cookout one day and take everyone to see the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400.  Bring your families with you and we can go to the world’s largest Children’s Museum or the Indianapolis Zoo.

For more information on the convention, visit http://www.thetachi.org/events/convention/default.asp.  If you are interested in attending, please contact me at indy@fedjefamily.net or 317-823-6750.  We hope to see many of you here!
