A Letter from the Alumni Council President
Greetings Brothers,
As I am writing this we are enduring a week of good old fashioned North Dakota winter. The wind and the temperatures in the minus twenties bring back memories of painful walks across campus in the bitter cold. Some of you no doubt have escaped to warmer climates and don’t miss it a bit. Thankfully it doesn’t seem like we get this type of weather too often anymore.
I want to apologize first and foremost for the change in date for pig banquet. I hope the postcard made it out in time before any significant travel plans had been made. The first Saturday in March has been our established date for pig banquet for a number of years now. Nobody had given it a thought that NDSU spring break might start so early this year (March 1st). Attendance by the active chapter would have been drastically affected as many of them had made plans already to be out of town when this schedule conflict was discovered. A decision was made by the alumni council to move the date back to March 29th and we mailed out a postcard as quickly as possible.
The turnout for Homecoming this year was not particularly large, but those that made it had a great time. The weather cooperated unexpectedly at the last minute so turned out to be a perfect day. The Bison held up their end of the deal by winning 35-16 against UC-Davis. They put on a great show all year long, but fell just short of a perfect season when they lost to South Dakota State in the final game of the year.
If you haven’t been back to campus in awhile there continue to be major changes – another good reason to come back for an alumni event! In this past year alone a major expansion to the Memorial Union was completed, an enormous addition to the Wellness Center was opened, the Center for Technology Enterprise was opened in the Research Park, construction on a new residence center was started, and a major renovation was started in downtown Fargo to become the new home of the College of Business. With all this change taking place it is most reassuring to see the “house that brotherhood built” continue to stand in its prominent location on University Drive.
The active chapter is doing very well. Kudos to them for initiating another good group of young men into the Brotherhood of Theta Chi from the fall semester pledge class. I’ve also heard an outstanding report about the house GPA results from fall.
I hope you all seriously consider making the trip to pig banquet this year. It is always a great time to get together and reminisce about our days in college and catch up with what’s happening with our fellow brothers these days. At the meeting we’ll be discussing plans for some potential building improvements to the house and also will hopefully be presenting a plan for a scholarship fund which I know some are eager to contribute to.
Take care brothers. See you at Pig Banquet!

Fraternally,
Aaron Reinholz
